Remembering, Honoring, and Thanking

Memorial Day this year will fall on Monday, May 31, 2010. Each year our nation sets aside this day to remember and celebrate those who serve in the Armed Forces, and those who have served, and those who have lost their lives for our American Freedom.

A day to memorialize our soldiers was first scheduled after the Civil War to mend relationships between the North and the South. It was made a Federal Holiday in 1971.

The services and sacrifices of men and women and their families throughout these past decades have given all Americans the ability to pass our freedom down to our children.

To all who have and are keeping our country free, we salute you, we remember you, and we thank you.

We are “One Nation Under God” and to you, Lord, I lift up a prayer of gratitude for your power, purpose, and protection. Lord, keep America strong and hold our servicemen in the palm of your hand.

Freedom isn’t free.
“And I’m proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I’m free,
And I won’t forget the men who died,
Who gave that right to me”.      Lee Greenwood
