A Psalm of Thanksgiving, Psalm 100

“Shout with Joy to the Lord, O earth!  Worship the Lord with gladness.  Come before Him, singing with joy.  Acknowledge that the Lord is God.  He made us, and we are His.  We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him and bless His name.  For the Lord is good.  His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.”

As I read and meditate on these words, I think about how faithful God has been in my life. I think about how grateful I am for His love and faithfulness.  The more I know Him; the more I feel His presence.  I love the Lord.  When you love someone you want to spend time with that person and as you do you develop a more intimate relationship and friendship with the one you love.  When you give your heart to someone you want to be with them; to be in their presence.  God is a very real part of who I am.  He is the vine, I am a branch.  He abides in me and I abide in Him (John 15:1-7).  As I read and study the Word, the Holy Spirit teaches me and fills me with His gifts.  I am open to receive the gifts of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5:22.  I thank Him, talk to Him, praise Him, and worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Today is my youngest grandson’s birthday.  Harrison John was born a year ago today.  What a very special gift he is.  Psalm 100 tells me that God’s faithfulness continues to each generation.  The gift of faith was passed down to me from my grandparents and my parents.  They reflected God’s love.  Although passed down, the gift of faith is personal.  I chose to believe and receive Christ as my personal Savior when I was very young.  It is a journey which I am still on.  My baby faith has grown into a mature faith and it will never stop growing.  Faith is a journey.  “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).  God reveals Himself and tells us about Himself and His plan of Salvation throughout the Bible.  How can we know Him and His plan for each of our lives if we don’t read or listen to Him and His Word.  I believe God’s promise in Psalm 100, “His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation”.   This gift of faith will be passed on to my grandsons, Trevor, Hunter, and Harrison as my daughters reflect God’s light into their lives.  My children, their spouses, and my grandchildren are my legacy.  They are children of the Heavenly Father, children of the King, and I pray that my grandsons will become men of God.  God and family are the only things that really matter to me.  Everything else is temporary.  I thank God for His blessings and His favor in my life.  We all need material things during our earthly life but God and our loved ones are the only Forever Blessings.  We will be together throughout eternity.

God is sovereign.  My life, my days, and my possessions are in His hands.  The people I love are in His hands.  I pray the Jabez prayer for myself, my family, and everyone I love every day.  May God bless each of us.  May we grow in wisdom and love as we walk our journey.  Lord, especially today, Bless little Harrison John.  Grandma and Papa love you.
